Boris Pasternak

CAST BABITT. Ø 15.5 CM

This is one of my early artworks, made immediately after I read “Doctor Zhivago” by Boris Pasternak for the first time. The design of the medal is quite simple and is lacking the direct associations with the famous novel. The Poet’s exalted face, “simultaneously resembling the Arab and his horse”, as Marina Tsvetaeva was keen to remark, is looking through the window frame in deep thought ("intertwined with the fate"?) at the old golden domed Moscow, and my soul feels and remembers this world in a mysterious way.
